MHA has found is that many existing tenants worry that they will be exposed to potentially dangerous people moving in without any background checks. While this sounds like it is biased and unfair, the concern that someone who will create disturbances or worse is a real one for tenants. On the other hand, landlords often will work with tenants who have a record with trial leases or even collaborating with probation officers to make sure the person can be successful. By blinding everyone to the information, that kind of support and compromise can’t happen.
